This is an incredible effort by a very dedicated bunch of people who gave up their weekend to do laps up and down the AIS pool and I am absolutely in awe of just what this amazing team of people did in order to raise money for such a great cause. This year the HypePT team was co-captained by myself and Olivia Lyons, whose sister Mia has MS. Sponsor us and make a difference to the lives of those who are impacted upon by this disease.
Our team is taking part in the 2010 ACT Regional (Canberra) 24 Hour Mega Swim to raise funds for people affected by Multiple Sclerosis. MS the most common disease of the central nervous system affecting over 18,000 Australians.
Did you know?
* The average diagnosis of MS is 30 years old.
* MS affects three times as many women as men.
The 24 Hour Mega Swim event raises funds for MS Australia's ‘Go for Gold' Scholarship program. ‘Go for Gold' scholarships are awarded to people living with Multiple Sclerosis covering a broad range of categories including education, travel, sport, music, the Arts and employment.
MS Australia aims to minimise the impact of multiple sclerosis on all individuals affected by the disease, their families, carers and the community by offering a wide range of assistance, services and equipment. MS Australia's goal is to assist everyone affected by MS to live life to their full potential and secure the care and support they need, until we ultimately find a cure.

I am donating $20 per person for the three people I know with MS. I wish it was more but they were happy enough over being thought of and appreciate people swimming for them. It's also great to raise awareness of ABI/MS-two of the people I know with MS have young children and one has just managed to get out of an aged care institution into a shared home for people with ABI - so his children can now visit him again.
