Hi all,
Only 48 hours to go before we kick off the 24 hour Megaswim.
I have been asked by a few of you what my goals are.
Well I can tell you that my original goal was to raise $10,000, but thought that $9,000 was more realistic which is what you have already achieved, and I thank you for that, but deep down I know that together we can break the $10,000 barrier and indeed exceed that figure easily.
On a physical level; well last year I swam 6 km in the 24 hour period. This year I am aiming to do 7 km, but won’t be disappointed with doing somewhere around 6 km.
I am looking forward to the experience once again, there is something unique about being with people in the water at late hours of the night or early hours of the morning that makes you bond with one another. For me sharing a lane with my friends, a nephew (who are swimming for the MSRA Brain Bank Team) and a cousin is going to be very satisfying and emotional. To think that these people who mostly do not know one another are working together as a team to show support for me is wonderful.
It does however seem that some of you are very interested in my “shave down” that I mentioned in my last e-mail. I think you all need to get out more often!!! Karen has decided that there will be no shave down or waxing!!! Nothing sharp or hot is going anywhere near anything!!
So, tomorrow will be lots of carbs, some rest and eagerly looking forward to the swim. Thanks to all of you who have sponsored me and for those who haven’t it is not too late to make a difference. Remember it is tax deduction and don’t think that Julia will spend it more wisely that Kev, so get a deduction now!!!

Hi all,
Only 5 days to go before the MS Megaswim.
Thanks to all of you who have sponsored me thus far, and to those that have not had a chance to do so, I look forward to your sponsorship over the next few days.
Again I have been blown away by your support, and as it stands I have reached 82.5% of my goal, and here is hoping that you will be able to blow my goal out of the water. Let’s see if we can get over $10,000. I can’t get over the support from people and businesses like Newington Marketplace. Awesome. Far be it for me to promote another accounting firm, but one of my trivia night teams owns an ITP “store” and they too have made a substantial donation. Thank you.
I have received a few e-mails from people that I have not seen in a while asking me how my health is. Ok, here is the low down. I am stable. I do not have a lot of feeling in my feet and sometimes my hands. I do get “pins and needles” down my arm. My balance has been better, but if I get enough rest and don’t overdo it, it seems that I can stay in control. Fatigue and heat is also an issue, but you know what? I can work and do most things that I want to, so life is great. Between Karen, my faith and great friends, things are going swimmingly (pardon the pun)!!
If I compare myself to others with MS then so far I am in a good place. These other people are who we are raising money for. The average scholarship is $3,000, so I am hoping to change 3 peoples lives this coming weekend, with your help of course.
